They call the Wallowa Range the “Alps of Oregon”. I don’t know who ‘they’ are, but I think they missed it. With autumn in full swing, I put together an ambitious loop in the Eagle Cap Wilderness to see as much of these mountains as my legs would allow in three nights. I saw a lot. Comparing the Wallowas to the Alps is a mistake. There are no Alps in Oregon. The Wallowas are Oregon mountains. They are stunning, and that’s good enough for me.
